Another fantastic weeks racing with many highlights but no more so than the Ascot Gold Cup success of Yeats who won the race for the third year in succession. The 2008 St James Palace Stakes was won by another Aiden O'Brien horse Henrythenavigator who was a sensation throughout the year. The Prince of Wales Stakes was won by Duke of Marmalade and really it was the Irish Trainers Festival.

The St James's Palace Stakes saw a top class performance by Excellent Art beating Cockney Rebel. The Queen Anne Stakes was won by Ramonti for the Godolphin stable. Prince of Wales's Stakes was won by Manduro, on day three Silkwood downed hot favourite All My Loving in the Ribblesdale Stakes. Yeats defended his Ascot Gold Cup on Ladies' Day and Indian Ink revelled in the soft ground as she romped to victory in the Coronation Stakes and the final day saw Maraahel makes it back-to-back wins in the Hardwicke Stakes after holding off a determined challenge from Scorpion.

The opening day saw a top victory by Araafa who followed up his Irish 2,000 Guineas win with victory in the St James's Palace Stakes and the Queen Anne Stakes was won by Ad Valorem. In Ouija Board we have witnessed a top star who beat Electrocutionist in the Prince of Wales's Stakes. Ladies day saw an Aiden O'Brien winner in Yeats ridden by Kieren Fallon. Nannina became champion three-year-old filly over a mile with a brilliant victory in the Coronation Stakes. Some surprise results on day five with Les Arcs winning the Golden Jubilee Stakes.

The French Derby winner Shamardal won the St James's Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot which was held at York. Mick Kinane won the Prince of Wales's Stakes on Azamour. On Ladies day Westerner was just to good to win the Gold Cup. Maids Causeway just held off a sustained challenge from Karen's Caper to win the Coronation Stakes at Royal Ascot at York on Friday and on the final day Cape of Good Hope set a new course record to win the Golden Jubilee Stakes.
