The pace was not that strong and not many got into it behind Sugar Ray, who made virtually all. Sugar Ray was 10lb higher here than when beating a small field in a weak race at Bath, but he was not that exposed and the application of a first-time tongue tie after a subsequent third at York may have been significant. He was given an excellent ride by Ryan Moore, who dictated the pace and kept him wide of the rail, presumably for better ground and remains progressive.

Notable Guest is a clear improver on the evidence of this step up in trip to win nicely from a very good field and Crow wood who he beat here looks a really decent sort and a lot can be said for the winners performance expertly handled by his trainer Michael Stoute.
1 Notable Guest 4-1
2 Crow Wood 6-1
3 Rehearsal 33-1
