King George Stakes

Royal Ascot King George V Stakes - Brown Panther Hacks Up

The King George V Stakes is a handicap for 3 year olds and is run over the 1 mile 4 furlong course. The Ascot bet odds on the King George V are generally very open but it is always a very good handicap and offers value punters an opportunity to back a Royal Ascot winner at a potentially big price. All the bookmakers ascot offers are available through this site.

Michael Owen looks to have a nice runner in this race with the excellent Brown Panther going for his trainer Tom Dascombe, he is highly thought of in the yard and could run a big race at the prices. He will have a tough task against Census though with the Richard Hannon horse likely to go off as favourite, the yard is in great form this week and he could give Richard Hughes another winner according to the betting.

King George V Stakes 2007 Result

A really open handicap with Man Of Vision going off in front and he slowed the pace and bunched up the field behind him and is then taken on by leading fancy Eradicate but Heron Bay and the well backed Filios took up the battle into the final furlong and it looked like Frankie was going to take the race on Filios but Heron Bay fought back bravely and put his nose back in front on the line to win at 20/1.

1 Heron Bay (S Drowne) 20-1
2 Filios (L Dettori) 6-1
3 Walking Talking (R Hughes) 12-1
4 Eradicate (K Darley) 9-2 Fav

Munsef was not one of the leading fancies for this race as there was a lot of winning form coming into this Ascot races and as such one would expect that the winner is a bit useful. While he had quite a bit to find after a mile he appreciated the big step up in distance and made his presence felt and won well in the end.

1 Munsef 14-1
2 Sunday Symphony 12-1
3 Consular 8-1
