2009 King Stand Stakes Result

Australian Invader Scenic Blast easily won the King Stand Stakes with a world class sprinting performance that took the breath away. He was the best backed horse of the day and his victory at 11/4 has certainly mauled the bookies big time. The win was his second leg of the Global Sprint but his connections have turned down the chance to supplement him for the Golden Jubilee Stake, preferring to go for the July Cup instead. Second was Fleeting Spirit who ran a superb race but was not quite good enough to overhaul the winner. Anglezark was third

  • 1st Scenic Blast – 11/4
  • 2nd Fleeting Spirit – 7/2
  • 3rd Anglezark - 331

Another fantastic finish. The group split into two and for a while it appeared the winner would come from the group on the far side with Dandy Man, ridden by Frankie Dettori, looking strong. However, the Spanish-trained Equiano held off late challenges from Takeover Target and Fleeting Spirit to win. That is only jockey Olivier Peslier's second winner at Ascot.

1. Equiano 22-1
2. Takeover Target 6-1
3. Fleeting Spirit 15-8 Fav

Chineur showed his class and is an improver as he has now completed a four-timer. This was a most taking performance and he went away from his field at the furlong pole and readily pulled clear for a comprehensive success.

1 Chineur 7/1
2 Boogie Street 16/1
3 Moss Vale 14/1
