2009 Prince of Wales Stakes Result
Favourite, Tartan Bearer narrowly failed in his bid to give Sir Michael Stoute his first winner in this race since 1999. He was just outgunned in the final furlong by French raider, Vision D'Etat who beat him by just half a length. Third was the other French raider, Never Say Die

The Duke powered clear in tremendous style from over a furlong out, having looked for a moment or two early in the straight as if he might make hard work of it. The further he went the better he looked.

Sir Percy led into the straight with Notnowcato tracking him and then Manduro and Dylan Thomas but when Dylan Thomas made his move, Manduro saw the move three furlongs out and did not let him get his own way and Manduro went into the lead at the two furlong mark and while Dylan Thomas tried to get alongside he just could not do so and Manduro won comfortably at the line winning at odds of 15/8 favourite.

Azamour was well fancied going into this race and seemed in great form prior to the race and was sent after the leaders in the home straight and while he took his time to get going he dug deep and proved very tough to take this group 1.
