Royal Ascot Queens Vase Betting - Namibian Wins for Johnston

Another quality race on day 4 of the Royal Ascot festival is the Queens Vase which is run over the extreme distance of 2 miles and is an opportunity for the stayers to pick up a group 3 prize. The Royal Ascot Betting Odds on the Queen's Vase is generally very open and competitive and most of the runners are attempting to get this 2 mile for the first time and this leaves a lot for punters to think about.

There are a number of nice types taking their chance in the Queens Vase today with all the big yards represented, Sir Henry Cecil will be going for another winner at the meeting with Solar Sky who won last time out. Aidan O'Brien looks to have another contender on his hands with Regent Street likely to go close if he is at his bets as the betting suggests.

Serengeti went off favourite in a very competitive Queen's vase with the ground a real poser for punters. With the pace coming from Actodoss and Serengeti making good progress on the inside Mahlar came there full of running and just kept galloping and made it number three for Mick Kinane and Aiden O'Brien for the week with Veracity in second and Secret Tune in third.

1. Mahler (Mick Kinane) 7-1
2. Veracity (Philip Robinson) 11-1
3. Secret Tune (Richard Hughes) 11-1

They say that it never rains but it pours and this was taken by another Mark Johnston horse and while his sting had been in patch form they seem to excel in mid June just in time each year to give the Johnston's multiple winners at the Royal meeting.

3 Galient 11-4 Fav
2 Ermine Sea 33-1

One can always rely on Mark Johnston to have a good stayer in his stable and he certainly has one here in the form of Melrose Avenue and while he did cause his backers some concern having to be pushed along from a long way out he kept finding for his jockey Kevin Darley and in the end just getting the better of his opposition.

1 Melrose Avenue 4-1
2 Mr Vegas 11-1
3 Helvetio 11-2
