Ryan Moore riding Perfect Stride brilliantly managed to overhaul all the way leader, Moonquake as they got to the line. He won by a neck but it was a brave effort by Frankie Dettori on Moonquake who is always a hard jockey to get by when he takes up the running. Third was Salute Him at 10/1

The pace he set was only ordinary and that would not have been to the advantage of the hold-up horses, among whom the chief sufferers looked to be Halicarnassus and the favourite Monte Alto. The Hughie Morrison-trained winner had run well to finish third off a 4lb lower mark on his first try at this trip at York last month and, in a race in which nothing else wanted to go on, he was able to dictate at his own pace, which caused several of his rivals to take a grip. Having stacked the opposition up, he quickened off the final bend and had enough in reserve to hold the challengers.

Emerates Skyline went off the 3/1 favourite and the field went down the back straight looking for better ground with Road to Love taking them into the straight and Heaven Sent went to the lead at the furlong pole but Championship Point came up the middle of the track and won going away for trainer Mick Channon with Charlie Cool staying on for third. The winner was a 25/1 chance and outstayed his rivals.
